Because golf is not a contact sport, everyone thinks that golf is an injury-free sport. 

But think about it.  We contort our bodies into positions that are not natural to the human frame or muscular structure, at speeds of a sprinter doing the 100-yard dash!  From our feet to our ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, neck, wrists, and fingers, we are all prone to some sort of injuries while we play our favorite sport.  Brent Kelley, reporting for golf.about.com and using the knowledge of Larry Foster, M.D., F.A.A.O.S, gives us the 10 Most Common Golf Injuries and how to prevent them.  Read on!

1.  Back Pain

The golf swing (not to mention the hunched-over putting stance many of us get into) puts great stress on the golfer’s back, so it’s no surprise back pain is the most common problem for golfers. Back pain in golfers might be mechanical or disc-related, arthritis-related, or caused by a stress fracture, among other possible causes. More »

3.  Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain in a golfer might be caused by any of several different underlying conditions, including: rotator cuff tendinitis, or a tear or impingement in the rotator cuff; A-C joint arthritis; or instability in the joint.
