We have all played a bunker shot and left it in the sand because we did not consider that the sand was either wet or compact.  

The first thing you definitely want to do before you play any bunker shot is digging your feet in.  This is not to give you a better footing or lower your body, as most people think, but to feel the sand’s texture!  This will help you determine what club you should be using and how you will play this shot before you just mindlessly step up and hit!
