3 Ways People Accidentally Cheat at Golf – #1 is Common!

I am certainly guilty of #1.  

Especially as I have gotten older, I sometimes forget that I had to chip out before I hit the green and announce I got a 4, only to be corrected by my playing partner.  A little embarrassing!  I think 99% of golfers are honest, and when they make an error in scoring, it is accidental. I have been playing golf for over 50 years, and I can count the number of golfers who cheat intentionally on the one hand.  That is why I love this game!

You have cheated on the course. Don’t even try to tell me you haven’t. You know you have.

Here at Golfer’s Jewel, we don’t think recreational golfers need to play by the rules. If you’re out by yourself or 3 of your buddies, just trying to have some fun, and don’t want to get bogged down by the rule book, then that’s not a problem. But if you claim that you’re playing by the rules, and you don’t stick to it, then you’re cheating.

Listed below are some classic ways people cheat at golf. Honest and trustworthy golfers, keep reading please.

1. Alzheimer’s

Most of you have probably done this during a bad round. If you’re the one keeping score and have a bad hole, you intentionally forget to write anything down for a couple of holes. By the time you announce your carelessness, your buddies have probably forgotten about that shot, but remember their scores from those holes. Since nobody remembers your score, you write 4 when you actually had a 5.
