Keeping a towel under the armpits is not really a good drill for the full swing.  It makes the golfer constricted in the swing.

However, using it to get the feel of using the torso to turn through the shot in small pitch shots is a great idea as it gives some connectivity to the shot.  Most high handicap golfers get too ‘armsy” with this shot, and this will help you understand that you control your pitch shots with body rotation and minimal arms.  Thanks to Piers Ward of meandmygolf.com for this helpful tip.

PGA Golf Professional Piers Ward demonstrates how you can improve your distance control on your pitch shots using a towel wrapped around your torso to keep the upper arms more connected to the body!
