Hitting good iron shots requires 2 elements – a good weight shift to provide power to the clubhead at impact, and secondly, you must strike the ball first to hit it solidly. Thanks to David Nesbitt, PGA Professional, who gives you two tips to help with this. I have a suggestion for his second drill with the lie board. David mentions putting the lie board 8 inches behind the ball. My suggestion would be to slowly move the lie board forward, closing that distance until you have the lie board one inch behind and still not hit it. Then you will have perfected this move!
If you’re frustrated with chunking or topping the golf ball, try these two simple tips and drills from David Nesbitt, PGA and start hitting your irons more consistently!
