The names of the top 5 putters on tour just might surprise you. It’s not the guys who are winning each week, not even close. The best putters like Colt Nost and Andrew Landrey are ranked 101st and 208th, respectively and must be pretty bad ball strikers to putt that well and finish that low. Somehow I was always under the impression that the top money winners were also the best putters, but apparently not. So the old saying of “Drive for show and Putt for dough” no longer applies. Go work on your long game guys, you don’t need the putting green! Thanks so much to Golf Digest Stix for putting this interesting list together!
PGA Tour: Stat Leaders
Though Charley Hoffman ranked 172nd on tour in putting percentage inside 10 feet, he confidently rolled in a crucial nine-footer for birdie to win the Valero Texas Open.
Here’s a look at the top-five players on tour this season in the crucial stat of percentage of putts made inside 10 feet.
1. Martin Piller.

Putting inside 10 feet: 91.67 percent. Putter: Ping Ketsch CB
Piller (above) could have an interesting putting contest in his own household as he is married to the LPGA’s Gerina Piller—who holed a clutch putt to secure the Solheim Cup last year. Piller currently tops the PGA Tour in putting inside 10 feet having recently switched to a Ping Ketsch CB (counterbalanced) mallet putter.
2. Colt Knost.

, 91.52 percent. Putter: Odyssey Toe Up 9
The design of Odyssey’s Toe Up models had the idea of reducing the amount of torque a player feels in their hands. Knost is using the company’s #9 model, which is a half-mallet design.
