These are several important aspects to success when playing the flop shot.
Most of them are taken care of by Jason Birnbaum for Golf Digest. But one thing that Jason did not mention that I think is important with this shot is using a 60-degree wedge with a fairly low bounce. A Sand Wedge does not work for this shot because when you open the clubface, you also increase the bounce. So if you have a tight lie, there is a high probability that you will skull the ball. Thanks to Jason for sharing!
It’s one of the lowest percentage shots in golf, and if you struggle with it, things can get ugly very quickly. Jason Birnbaum shows you how to take control of the flop shot over a bunker.
