Getting back to Basics with the Big Gun!

Golf Chats is a website to encourage discussions on various subjects relating to the game of golf. I am Mel Sole, Director of Instruction of the Mel Sole Golf School and SAPGA Master Professional.  I invite you to enter into a discussion on this or any article on the website.  The input is for the entire subscriber base to learn something new each time!  Please post your comments below.  Keep it clean and tasteful.  We are here to learn from one another!

“The Big Gun,” of course, is the driver.

In this instructional video, Piers Ward and Andy Proudman of Meandmygolf talk about getting back to basics.  Sometimes we get a little distracted with all the information out there, and getting back to basics will help you get your game back on track!

The big key with the driver is ball position.  Most golfers tend to play the ball position too far back in the stance, causing the angle of attack to be too descending with a driver that does not have a lot of loft.  To take advantage of the driver, the angle of attack at impact should be slightly on the upswing.  This will launch the ball up into the air with a good launch angle and more distance!

In todays Impact Show we discuss the basics to hitting the driver straighter and longer, the basics are so important to get correct when starting the game but are often overlooked by experienced golfers. So whether you are just starting the game or feel that you need to go back to basics this video is worth a watch.
