Hitting a soft shot from thick rough is normally never easy.

But here Keith Willams gives us a tip via Golf Monthly, that will certainly make this shot a little easier.  The two big keys are cocking the wrists quickly on the backswing, and swinging aggressively through the ball.  Don’t quit!  Find an area either on the range or a quiet place on the course and practice this shot.  It’s not as hard as it looks once you’ve practiced it!  Good luck.

Chipping from Rough lesson from Golf Monthly Top 25 Coach Keith Williams. Here Keith looks at the technique required for chipping from thick rough around the greens. It takes a while to get the feel of exactly how hard to hit these shots.  So spend some time praxcticing these shots – you wont be sorry!

The most misunderstood rules in golf relate to:

1. How to proceed after hitting a ball that may be out of bounds.

2. Not being clear on what “Nearest point of relief” means.

3. The correct drop procedure for an unplayable lie.”

These three rules are basic rules 101, and every golfer should know them.  Check them out as Jeremy Ellwood explains via Golf Monthly what the correct procedures are for all 3!

If you understand bounce, you are well on your way to becoming a good golfer.

Understanding bounce will help you not dig the club into the ground when you are chipping and help the club slide through the sand on bunker shots. A sand wedge will usually have more bounce than a lob (or 60 degrees) wedge, and these have different functions.  Golf Monthly’s Mike Reynolds explains the ins and outs of bounce!

What is bounce angle and how do you use it?

Notice the club’s leading edge on the left is flush with the ground, and the other is raised. The club on the right has more bounce!

What is bounce angle on wedges?

You will often hear golf coaches and equipment fitters refer to bounce in wedges but what is it and how does it help. Well, the bounce angle refers to the relationship between the leading edge and the sole of your wedge.

If you hold your wedge out in front of you so the shaft is perpendicular to the ground you will notice that the back of the sole sits lower to the ground than the leading edge. If you drew a horizontal line through the leading edge of the wedge and then another line along the angle of the sole, the difference between these two is your bounce angle.

It seems like we can never get enough of seeing trick shots by talented golfers.

In this compilation of PGA Tour trick shots, you’ll see Rory, Jason Day, and other top players have fun while entertaining the fans and cameramen.

I think the best is South African George Coetzee, who is the first golfer I’ve seen do the ‘bounce ball on the club’ trick, over his head and behind himself!

I always used to think Freddie Couples was Mr. Cool, but Miguel Angel Jimenez takes cool to a whole new level!

Watch his unique warm-up routine!  Maybe I should start teaching this at my golf school!

Note that he works every part of his body.  Every joint and ligament!  His legs and his arms.  He’ll stretch his hamstrings, glutes, back, and ankles.  Nothing is left out.  Copy this routine and try it on the range before you start your warm-up routine.  You might get a few strange looks as Miguel did at first, but now he leads the spectators at the event in a stretching class almost every day!  You might start a trend at your club!
