My favorite workouts are those that require minimal equipment. These are workouts that can be done at home or at the gym and at your own pace. In fact, the slower you do these exercises and pay attention to good form (just like the golf swing), the more benefit you will get out of the workout.
Thee most oft-asked questions from golfers regarding fitness are things such as What can I do to avoid back pain?, What exercises are good to strengthen my core muscles? and What are the best stretches before I play? We attempted to answer those questions, and many others regarding golf fitness, by producing a series of short videos highlighting the very best exercises for anyone who loves the game.
Best part? We got Instagram star Paige Spiranac to demonstrate those moves.

If you are in your mid to late 60’s or older, you will have noticed that it is much more difficult to make a good shoulder turn.
Most students of this age that I film have about half the shoulder turn they should have. This exercise by Michael Cummings, a performance specialist at Sklz, will show you an easy way to increase your shoulder turn. By the way, the product he is using to help slide along the wall is called Slidez and is available here.
The ugly truth about swinging a golf club properly is that your body isn’t designed to do it without stressing certain parts to the point where pain/injury is a probable outcome. But if you’re like me, the game is too good to quit simply because there’s an increased chance I might hurt my wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, back, etc., etc., etc.
So assuming you’ve accepted the risks associated with repeatedly swinging a golf club, there are some things you can do to reduce the odds of injury if you’re willing to get a little sweaty. This is especially true of the most common area where golfers experience pain—the lower back.

A few weeks ago I focused on an area often neglected by golfers when they are stretching for golf, and that was the ankles.
Today I am going to concentrate on another area that is neglected, and that is the neck area.
Most golfers when they stretch before a round concentrate on the torso and hip area. Although this is an important area, torso and hip movement is totally useless without good neck mobility. We are often told to “keep our head still” but if the neck and shoulder muscles are tight, no matter how hard they try they are going to get some movement that will affect the outcome of the shot. If you want to play better golf, then below are some great neck stretches you can do easily before each round. In the video, the subject does all the stretches in less than a minute. Do them twice!

A large percentage of golfers suffer from back pain. Why?
Usually, poor posture while sitting at a desk. Or, poor posture while standing. And, poor posture while sitting watching TV. These are all contributing factors to your lower back pain. Simple Organic Life gives us 7 really easy stretches that will take just a few minutes a day (and I mean every day) to completely eradicate that pain. Just do it!
One of the consequences of being sedentary, and also being incredibly active, is back pain. About 31 million Americans experience lower back pain at any given moment. It’s a common affliction and one that takes care and diligence to eliminate.
Whether you experience stiffness, aches, or spasms, the following stretches will help keep your back fit and strong.
1. The hamstring floor stretch.
Hold for 30 seconds twice for each leg.
2. Knee to chest stretch.
This helps strengthen and relax your glutes. Hold for 20 seconds for each leg twice.
3. Spinal stretch.
This was a favorite of mine when I suffered sciatica. Hold for 20 seconds and repeat on the other knee. Do this as many times as you like but don’t overdo it.

You’ll have a lot of trouble generating golf swing power if you have problems getting into the full shoulder turn position of your backswing.
The solution? Flexibility. Do these three simple stretches every day to maintain your flexibility and maximize your golf swing power! Don’t rush this. Allow gravity to do the work to avoid injury! If you are not sure whether you can do this or not, consult your primary care physician!
In your golf posture with the club across your shoulders. Staying in your posture, make a shoulder turn, and a follow-through.
Extending your arms up in the air holding a club, lean sideways for a great side stretch. Do both sides.
Hook the club into your lower back and again turn back and through without stopping. Let your hips finish all the way through!
