A lot of golfers, male and female, struggle to hit their 3 wood off the ground. Why, you ask? Because golfers think they have to hit the ball up into the air and get the clubhead traveling too much in an upward direction at impact. This will work when the ball is on a tee but will be a disaster when the ball is on the ground. Rick Shiels of Rick Shiels Golf explains that rather try and hit the ball with a more “forward driving” motion, and the loft on the fairway wood will automatically launch the ball at the proper trajectory!
