The longest golf course I have personally played was just north of Myrtle Beach, at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Little River, SC. At 7900 from the back tees, it is a monster even for local hero Dustin Johnson. A close second is the Grande Dunes Resort Course, in Myrtle Beach, at 7617 from the tips. But these pale compared to the top 10 longest golf courses in the world presented by Swing by Swing.
Comment below if you have had the privilege of playing any of these monsters!
10. The Prairie Club, Dunes Course – Valentine, Nebraska
Looks a lot like a links course to me. It just needs the ocean!
Length: 8,058 yards
The par-72 Dunes Course at The Prairie Club, designed by Tom Lehman and Chris Brands, is laid out along the Sand Hills of Nebraska. It makes for a most picturesque setting with elevated tees, undulating fairways, and a rolling landscape of prairies grasses. It’s also the shortest course on this list. Strap in.
9. The Shoals Golf Club, Fighting Joe Course – Shoals, Alabama
Looks very serene!
Length: 8,092 yards
The first of two Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses to make the list is the Fighting Joe at The Shoals. This par-72 super-long links-style course looks out over the Tennessee River and Lake Jackson and makes some spectacular scenery. It offers generous fairways and holes that follow natural topography along the river, making a pleasurable experience the whole way through.
8. Promontory Club, Painted Valley – Park City, Utah
Certainly looks like a painted valley.
Length: 8,098 yards
The Jack Nicklaus-designed par 72 is arguably one of the toughest in the state of Utah. Located smack dab in the middle of 3 major ski resorts, this lengthy course offers spectacular views while demanding your full attention. The front nine plays down and up a valley and starts with an eye-popping 718-yard par five, the longest hole on the course. The back is laid out more along meadows and features plenty more long holes, including the par-5 12th, which clocks in at 673 yards.

Golf trick Shots are always fun to watch! These days there seem to be more and more golfers trying to outdo each other in this department. Here are the Best 10 Golf trick shots of the year presented by Swing by Swing!
Golf trick shots certainly have come a long way since the days of this game-changing Tiger Woods’ Nike commercial. Aided by the help of the internet, Go-Pro cameras, and even props in some cases, people from across the world have joined together on a mission to up the anti one trick shot at a time. As it turns out 2016 was a good year in this new wave of golf entertainment. Here’s our list of the 10 best we’ve seen in no particular order.
Here asre some amazing trick shots for your entertainment!
1 Driver Flip
This nifty club trick by Josh Kelley is all about timing. Hand-eye-coordination is also crucial as he flips the club up and catches it completely blind above his head while in mid-swing. We wonder how long it took him to perfect it?
2. Tweener
Trick shot connoisseur Ryan Rustand channels Rodger Federer with this tweener. He ricochets it off of a barrier, only to catch his driver and stripe one down broadway. All while the ball was still in the air. Magic.
3. Who needs tees?
Golfer and trick shot specialist Josh Kelley shows that he doesn’t need a tee to rip one down the middle to start a round. What is more, he makes the use of caddies obsolete as he pinpoints his iron into its (proper?) slot in his bag. He proceeds to strap up the sticks and admire his shot with a brisk walk to his next one.
4. Doink
This trick shot employs some props to take it to the next level. The initial putt is blasted off the fringe and hits the barrier squarely. Kelley then cuts it out of mid air with only the slim face of his putter to send it home.
5. Flop
The always entertaining Bryan Brothers come up with a twist on a classic. It starts off with a Phil-esque flop off a ledge. The ball travels backwards and lands right in the wheelhouse, getting tattooed across the water. Welcome to the Smoke Shack, indeed.

This is the type of place that golfers are going to swarm to!
A bar, restaurant, and putt-putt in a great setting of an underground WWII bunker! The perfect place for a corporate outing or upscale birthday party, the uses are endless. The next time I am in London, I will definitely seek this place out!
Thanks to Matt Grech-Smith for the video and Swing by Swing for the interesting article. Be sure to check out the link below to see additional pictures of this establishment!
Swingers – the 9 hole crazy-golf pop-up – was the first venture brought to you by the Institute of Competitive Socialising. Located at Factory 7, Hearn Street, London E1, it ran from September 2014 to February 2015.
This putt-putt course that’s coming to London in early 2016 may be one of the coolest we’ve ever seen. Housed in an old WWII bunker, the 16,000 sq. foot venue will feature:

A golf grip change is one of the most uncomfortable changes you can ever make in your golf swing.
But, it is an alteration worth doing in the long run. Schedule a golf grip change when you have at least two months free of any competitive rounds. It takes a couple of months to become 100% comfortable with the new grip.
A lot of golfers don’t realize it. A lot of golfers don’t think much about it. But the grip is one of the most important things in the golf swing, yet over 80% of golfers get it wrong.
Swing by Swing PGA Pro, Brad Smith, is here to give you the answer. From here forward, make sure you are gripping correctly!

While I was doing some research on posts for my golfchats.com website, I came across these two videos of the pending sale of Michael Jordan’s house in Chicago.
Michael Jordan is a pretty good golfer. At one time he thought of turning Pro!
(I think Tiger talked him out of that one.) This home has a USGA Standard putting green! Why Not! Everything Michael does is first-class all the way.
Thanks to Swing by Swing for this entertaining and informative set of videos!
Want to live like one of the best athletes to ever walk this earth? Well, now’s your chance! Go grab that $14,855,000 that you’re casually hiding under your mattress and snag this bad boy.
The seven-acre estate features a regulation-sized basketball gym, an infinity pool, putting green, tennis court, and cigar room all personalized by MJ, himself.

Martin Chuck gives some good advice on hitting a pitch shot with spin!
Things like ball position, clean grooves on the club, and a premium golf ball all help in this process. One thing Chuck did not mention in this video but is very, very important. Just have a look at how he rotates his body through the ball! This is a huge key to prevent the “flipping motion’ he mentions. Thanks to Swing by Swing and Martin Chuck for this great golf tip!
If you’re looking to get the ball to check up while you are chipping, try this. Increase ball spin and control with the “built in cheat method”.

Have you ever thought of diving in after your ball when you have dunked one in the pond?
You would be surprised at what you would find! There are several people who have found this lucrative business an interesting job! Alligators and snakes are a danger, but just part of the diver’s daily encounters! How many jobs do you know that have to think of snakes and alligators every day on the job?
Thanks to Swing by Swing for bringing us this interesting story!
Meet Glenn Berger, the man who’s making a TON of money off of our crappy golf shots. He makes a living by retrieving 1.3 to 1.7 million golf balls per year. Wait until you hear what types of objects Glenn has encountered while diving for golf balls.

Every golfer on the plant has missed a short putt that was embarrassing.
However, this short tap-in by Alvaro Quiros was not so much a miss as a rebound! The ball hit the back of the cup and came straight back. It reminded me of a putt during the 2000 PGA Tour Q School when Joe Daly hit almost the exact same putt and missed the cut by a shot. Check out both videos below. You decide which one wins the prize for the shortest missed tap in of all time!
We’re not sure what exactly is going on lately on the putting greens in professional golf, but add Alvaro Quiros’ putt at the Portugal Masters to the list of crazy happenings recently.

If your lower body moves too fast, then this drill’s for you.
Gabriel Ryder (Rider) of pureswingTV.com gives an effective drill to quiet that lower body. Now this will be a little difficult at first if you have never hit a ball off your knees, and the first time you will probably hit way behind the ball. Remember to swing flat, and don’t try to overpower the ball. After a few trial runs, you should be able to make pretty good contact.
We know, the first thing you probably said to yourself when you saw this guy on his knees for an instructional video is “what the #@$&,” but bare with us here. This guy may actually have the cure to that embarrassing hook of yours that all your buddies keep giggling about. Take a look and go give it a try!
Look, there’s only two outcomes to giving this a test run: you’ll either look like a complete idiot or you’ll appear to be your city’s next up-and-coming trick shot artist.
