Justin Rose, a PGA Tour player, helps out with some good green reading tips.  

The ability to read greens is an art and not a science, although more and more PGA Tour players are turning towards science to help improve their green reading skills.  Good use of your eyes, an ability to feel slope with your feet, and thorough knowledge of the general area will help you become a better green reader. Like everything else in golf, it takes practice and patience to become a good green reader.  Work at it diligently and watch it pay off in the future with lower scores due to fewer putts!
