Every golfer wants to see the ball go as far as possible after hitting a shot. There is something so exciting about watching the golf ball soar through the sky.

If you are looking to add some distance to your golf swing, this article is for you. Check out the tips below to start hitting the ball better than ever.

Improve golf strength and flexibility

Strength and flexibility have the biggest impact when it comes to increasing your swing power and distance. You’ll find it difficult to control and coordinate your body when swinging a golf club if you lack strength in your core region. The more strength you can add to your core region, the more power and speed will be generated at impact. Also, you’ll struggle to make a full shoulder turn during the backswing if you suffer from poor flexibility.

Swing mechanics

Good swing mechanics are essential. Every golfer knows how important this is when it comes to driving the ball down the fairway. You’ll hit the ball faster when your swing is fundamentally sound.

24% of golf clubs sold on eBay are counterfeit golf clubs.

According to a survey conducted by mygolfspy.com. Yikes! Despite the diligence of the U.S. Customs and Border Control, plus other country’s border controls, the duping of innocent buyers continues.

Want some tips to assure you receive authentic merchandise? Don’t just settle for a few favorable comments from buyers on the seller’s site. A post by golfersjewels.com recommends that you don’t buy from sellers with less than 50 sales. And ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, DON’T PAY WITH A MONEY TRANSFER!

Four Ways to Avoid Buying Counterfeit Golf Clubs!

Consumers all around the world have been duped into purchasing so called “authentic and brand new” golf clubs that are sold at an extremely low price on eBay and other online retail stores.

U.S. Customs and Border Control seize hundreds of counterfeit items each year, and the numbers are rising. According to a survey conducted by Mygolfspy, 24% of golf clubs sold on eBay are counterfeits.

Since this has become such a problem, we have decided to give you some tips on how you can protect yourself from being a victim of counterfeiters. Read on and be a smart buyer.

1. Member feedback

Always check a seller’s feedback on auction sites before buying. Do not buy from sellers with less than 50 sales or those with a lot of negative feedback.

Also, be wary of sellers that require payment via money transfer. Counterfeiters often use these types of transactions since they’re untraceable.

Always buy with a credit card. This way, you can dispute the purchase if you don’t get what you paid for.

2. Beware of deals

We’re sure there are a lot of great deals out there, but beware! There are also a lot of shady ones.

If the deal is too good to be true, then it probably is. A lot of sellers use reasons like “got as a gift” or “won in raffle” to justify the low price.

Most golfers tend to make the same common swing mistakes over and over again.

Being aware of these 4 common golf mistakes can certainly make you a better player.  Thanks to golfersjewels.com for this simple but insightful article!  Please note #4, as this is the most prevalent mistake I see in most of my students!

4 Common Swing Mistakes - #4 is all too familiar!

The golf swing is a very delicate process. You need to execute it perfectly in order to get the results you want.

If you watch professional golfers on television, you know that there is no specific way to swing a golf club, but there are several mistakes that could destroy your power shots. Even the simplest swing fault can cause a loss of consistency and distance. Worse, it can put you at risk for injury.

Here are some of the most common golf swing mistakes and some helpful tips on how to correct them. It may take some time to fix these problems, but identifying the cause of the problem can be very helpful.

The grip

When golfers grip their clubs too tightly, both their accuracy and power suffer. Some people think that squeezing the club tightly will give them power. But if you do this, you’ll end up producing a shot that slices and lacks power. Grip the club firmly, but not tight.

Releasing too early

A golfer who releases too early will see his club head pass in front of his hands before impact.

You will lose power if you release too early since you’re going to hit the ball only with the power from your arms. Be sure your lower body is moving first to start your downswing. Then keep your wrist cocked slightly longer in the downswing.

Playing Golf with a Cheater - What do you do now?

I am certainly guilty of #1.

Especially as I have gotten older, I sometimes forget that I had to chip out before I hit the green and announce I got a 4, only to be corrected by my playing partner.  A little embarrassing!  I think 99% of golfers are honest, and when they make an error in scoring, it is accidental. I have been playing golf for over 50 years, and I can count the number of golfers who cheat intentionally on the one hand.  That is why I love this game!

3 Ways People Accidentally Cheat at Golf - #1 is Common!

You have cheated on the course. Don’t even try to tell me you haven’t. You know you have.

Here at Golfer’s Jewel, we don’t think recreational golfers need to play by the rules. If you’re out by yourself or 3 of your buddies, just trying to have some fun, and don’t want to get bogged down by the rule book, then that’s not a problem. But if you claim that you’re playing by the rules, and you don’t stick to it, then you’re cheating.

Listed below are some classic ways people cheat at golf. Honest and trustworthy golfers, keep reading please.

1. Alzheimer’s

Most of you have probably done this during a bad round. If you’re the one keeping score and have a bad hole, you intentionally forget to write anything down for a couple of holes. By the time you announce your carelessness, your buddies have probably forgotten about that shot, but remember their scores from those holes. Since nobody remembers your score, you write 4 when you actually had a 5.

4 Tips to get your game Spring Ready - #3 is a must do!

If you don’t mind going to the gym on occasion, we suggest that you focus on cardiovascular exercises. If you’re allergic to the gym, you might want to consider Pilates, Yoga, or other exercises that can help strengthen your core. This will increase your stamina and allow you to play for several hours without fatiguing so much. In addition to that, it will add more yardage to your shot and prevent injuries.

Golf is a sport that teaches one not only how to be a good golfer but how to be a decent human being.

I feel golf is the only sport where golf professionals will help each other and are pleased to see their fellow competitors play well.  Could you ever imagine Kobie Bryant stepping onto a court and giving LeBron James some tips on how to improve his jump shot?  I don’t think so.

And yet, recently, Steve Stricker helped Tiger Woods with his putting just before the first round of a tournament.  Tiger went on to win, putting really well.  And who did he beat by one shot – you guessed it, Steve Stricker.  And yet, when asked whether he was sorry he had helped Tiger, he said, “No, Tiger has helped me many times with my full swing, so it was an honor to help him with his short game!”

Folks, teach your children to play golf, and they will grow up to be ladies and gentlemen!  Here Jules Paton writing for golfersjewels.com, talks about learning “Life’s Lessons” on the course.

5 Life Lessons you can learn playing golf - #4 is so important!

Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies. -Bobby Jones

Here are some of the life lessons you can get from playing golf.

1. Don’t dwell on a bad shot

A bad shot or two will not ruin a round of golf. We all make mistakes. So, learn to forgive yourself and move on.

If you beat yourself every time you screw up, you might not find the courage to keep trying later on because you’re too scared that you will fail. Learn to laugh at your bad shots and try again.

2. Focus

Golf requires an amazing amount of concentration. You need to focus if you want to do well in the game. If you are to observe professional golf players, you’ll notice that they are quiet and focus on the smallest detail. You can see in their eyes that they want to win.
